Facilities Management at Cinergy
Cinergy's Facilities Services has implemented ARCHIBUS/FM (Facilities Management)
software to track facilities and create work orders. ARCHIBUS/FM is the leading
commercial off-the-shelf software for AutoCAD-based facilities and asset management
automation.
Tom Hartman, Hartman Consulting, and Dave Holmstrom, DTE, Inc., are the consulting principals involved in the conversion project. Cinergy personnel from Facilities Services in both Cincinnati and Plainfield will be involved in all aspects of the project. Fred Trammel is serving as the Project Manager.
After implementation of the ARCHIBUS/FM software, data gathering for the 4th & Main facility in Cincinnati commenced. Data integration for the Plainfield facility is complete. For the data-gathering phase of the project, Hartman/DTE is using a laptop computer running AutoCAD on a modified A/V Cart. The scope of the project encompasses documenting the existing floor plans for Cincinnati's Fourth and Main/Annex buildings and Plainfield's 50's, 70's and 80's buildings. Information being captured includes walls, doors, windows, columns, fixed millwork, workstations, ceiling plans, electrical plans, voice and data plans, location of any equipment that has preventative maintenance procedures, and fire/safety equipment.
DTE will then take the floor plan information and link the AutoCAD drawings to the ARCHIBUS database. Employee names and room assignments are then verified and input into the system. Equipment maintenance procedures are then assigned to equipment located in the drawings and preventive maintenance work orders are automatically generated with the system. ARCHIBUS also handles on-demand work requests for non-scheduled maintenance. ARCHIBUS will be available over the Cinergy corporate Intranet for on-demand work request generation, preventative maintenance work orders, and drawing viewing.
CAD Technology Services provides acquisition, implementation, and technical support of AutoCAD for Facilities Services.
